According to Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, gold shipments from the island to the mainland fell 10 per cent in June from the previous month to 67,747kg.
The department also said 26,997 kg of gold entered Hong Kong from China in June, down 9.4 percent on the month.
Analysts however said China’s gold imports are going to continue growing this year as physical demand stays strong.
China does not release official data on gold imports or demand, and the Hong Kong import numbers, published by the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, are considered to offer a partial view of overall demand.
